REFUGEES CALL FOR SENSE OF BELONGING.

Outcry for poor service delivery for refugees in Uganda. From our survey carried out from refugee communities in the urban centres, it’s alarming and if the Ugandan government ponder a sense of refugee belonging they seem to be proud of it.

After a lengthy interaction with chairman Mr Liberat of the ” REFUGEE RIGHTS ACTION ORGANIZATION ” and Burundi Chairperson Mr Ferdinad, I have a lot of questions to ask the prime minister of Uganda Rt. Hon Robina Nabanja who is responsible for their stay in the country.

For instance, many of their friends and relatives have gone missing, kidnapped and killed but no office has ever investigated a single case to its logical conclusion. Others are in prison and they do not have monies to hire lawyers and yet the cause of their arrests is not clear.

The refugee community continue to say, that a lot is happening to their lives but little help from responsible offices and the Uganda police are doing little to help them get justice in hard times mostly from incidents of insecurity and violence.

It is believed about twenty thousand refugees are in the urban areas of Kampala, Wakiso and Mukono, yet their numbers continue to fill up urban centres each year as they migrate from camps to earn a better living.

In their conclusion,  they call upon the prime minister to address their concerns and rights, police are never helpful in times of hardship, for their safety, insecurity and violence, as we continue to find solutions to the refugee community, stay come and not bitter.
