Katanga’s Murder: Molly Katanga’s Guilt Is Easy To Gossip About Than To Actually Prove

An impression has been created that since Molly Katanga’s DNA was purportedly found on a pistol said to have been used to shoot dead her husband, Henry Katanga then her own conviction is more or less a foregone conclusion.

What we have not been told by the DPP is whether Molly Katanga’s fingerprints were also found on the killer pistol which is equally, if not more critical, one of the key pieces of evidence required to pin down the woman on the grave case of murder.

I dare say that the DNA aspect was intentionally leaked, if at all its indeed true in the first place, with the view of psychologically preparing Ugandans to potentially believe that Molly Katanga indeed shot dead her husband even before the woman could undergo the due process whereat the DPP will be strictly required to strictly prove her case beyond any reasonable doubt before securing a conviction against the suspect.

Another impression has been created that some of the suspects in Katanga’s murder tampered with the CCTV cameras at the scene of the murder to psychologically prepare Ugandans to potentially believe that was done to help Molly Katanga escape criminal liability for the murder of her own husband.

In the Shadow of Doubt

Now Molly Katanga and her husband were the two people said to have been present in their bedroom on the day of the murder, potentially creating doubts in the minds of impartial third parties as to who exactly shot the other since both spouses, by the way, sustained injuries during the scuffle.

The fact that the two on the fateful day were in the privacy of their bedroom, it follows that it’s one of the two who could be in a position to tell us what exactly happened. Unfortunately, one is already dead whilst the other is still alive and cannot be expected to be as foolish as to volunteer testimony required for her own conviction and potential hanging.

If it’s indeed true that the two spouses were involved in a domestic fight and that it’s actually Molly who fatally shot her husband, then her lawyers will potentially argue she was compelled to do so in self-defense, potentially reducing her case to manslaughter from that of murder.

Supposing that she acted in self-defense, it would therefore follow that she must have handled the pistol which is how therefore her DNA got in contact with the rifle.

Truth or Fiction

Yet, puzzlingly, we have not been told by DPP that Molly Katanga’s fingerprints were also found on the killer pistol, creating doubts court is potentially likely to ultimately apply in favor of the suspect as per the law of evidence.

Another line of submission has been raised to the effect that Katanga had written his Will out of fear that his wife was about to kill her. With due respect, that sounds to me like preposterous given that it’s both a normal and legal practice for people to write their Wills.

Those stating so, oddly, do not go ahead and tell us, for instance, that Henry Katanga himself made a dying declaration, pinning down Molly Katanga as the one who had taken her death just as Juvenal Nsenga did, leading to his wife, Jacqueline Uwera Nsenga’s conviction plus twenty-year jail term.

Consequently, in absence of a criminal case anywhere on record filed by Katanga or anybody else pointing out a threat on his life, it will sound nothing more than wishful thinking at best and erroneous at worst should anyone state posthumously that he wrote a Will because his wife had threatened to kill him.

“Any reasonable mind will quickly ask what prevented a man being threatened with death by the other from filing a report if he actually took the threats, if any, seriously?”

Molly Katanga’s case needs to be approached with a lot of caution and soberer heads as opposed to emotion considering that there are so many powerful forces involved in it, rendering it a really high-stakes case.
