Kasese District’s Drunk Driver Leaves Pregnant Woman with One Leg, Bosses Turn Hostile

Tragedy befell a heavily pregnant woman after a drunk Kasese administration driver tragically knocked her, losing one of her legs to the surgeon’s knife.

The woman was moving on a boda boda when the district’s grader driver Mr . Majuugu Fred apparently under the influence of alcohol,  rammed into the motorcycle, leaving the pillion passenger nursing serious injuries.

Failure to provide proper and sufficient treatment for the victim of their drunk driver has cast the district’s leadership into the spotlight, depicting them as heartless. 

The disturbing acts of indifference and callousness exhibited by the Kasese district leadership have since compelled the family of the victim to hire a lawyer opening the way to court action. 

The victim’s lawyers ( Mr. Ivan Waguubi) have since sent a notice to sue to Kasese District Administration. The same was ignored since the two weeks given to the potential defendants to settle the matter out of court, has since expired.

District Faces Legal Threat

The stubborn stance exhibited by the district leadership is compelling the victim’s lawyers to consider strongly the option of dragging the intended defendants to courts of law. 

Earlier before, the district’s leadership,  after a lot of pressure had been brought to bear on them, parted with merely three million shillings, rejecting to provide any more money required for proper treatment of the victim, exposing her to trauma and psychological torture. 

Information gathered from the Kabatooro traffic police desk identifies the victim as Betty Tusiime who was at the time reportedly carrying a four-month pregnancy.

She was knocked along Katwe salt mine road as she was traveling on a motorcycle licensed as UFR 942P. The suspect was driving the Kasese district administration’s grader truck licensed as UG 2075W and his name is Mr. Tuguume Wilson Aggrey.

Disturbing Development

The tragic incident occurred on December 9, 2023, according to a traffic police file opened in respect of the incident referenced as TAR/12/23.

Traffic police officers who responded to the distress calls from the scene of the accident, credibly helped to rush the victim to Kagando hospital for treatment.

After attending to the patient without positively responding positively to treatment, the doctors subjected her to several rounds of scanning, determining finally to carry out the to amputation of her right leg, leaving her incapacitated for the rest of her life.

Yet disturbing reports coming in indicate how the leadership of Kasese district, notably, the Mayor ( Mr. Kananura John Bosco) have since interfered with potential witnesses, causing the disappearance of one of them who is a key witness.

That key witness who had initially registered his unreserved willingness to assist the victim to secure justice, has since reportedly been influenced by the Kasese district leadership, changing his earlier stance, and going into hiding.

That witness is the rider of the motorcycle ( Mr. Tuguume Wilson Aggrey) that the drunk driver of Kasese district administration rammed into, placing him in good stead to give firsthand testimony in court about what exactly caused the accident and how.

Media Vigilance

The key witness’ suspicious disappearance allegedly masterminded by some of the leaders of Kasese district, implies the administration thereto is aware of their guilt with respect to this accident. 

We have further learned that the grader which was involved in the accident wasn’t insured, portraying the top secret of why the district leadership are fighting tooth and nail to frustrate the course of justice.
