It’s by law that a debtor is given 6 months imprisonment to have failed a payback, the constitution gives the punishment and the time frame is stated too, so I refer this statement to UNRA to at least revise the punishment act in their authority specifically the department of weighbridge. 

Give time duration when a truck should be held/displayed off either back to the owners at a relatively low penalty rate or auction them before the trucks become useless/scrap. , why because you lose two things. These trucks employ quite a large number of youth, when it rots even minus penalties not paid it becomes more meaningless. 

A simple president of ROAD TRAFFIC offenses how they are handled back in the United Kingdom, the traffic road offender is given a penalty of let’s say 1 year time duration without sitting on a steering, and a fine paid too, so let’s have revised measures.

From Penalties to Driver Proficiency

We have gathered information that most penalties and demurrage given to truck owners get so high that they end up losing their trucks to rot for years at their impounded weigh bridge stations thus losing a businessman who in turn serves a purpose to employment to the youth, so I call upon officers from UNRA to look into it. To add onto that, most Sino truck drivers are youngsters between the age of 18 – 25 years
and they don’t have any sanity on our roads, they don’t know when to speed up/where and when to slow down, this alone has caused us a lot of road accidents mostly in the CBD.

CAUTION; This Goes to the road stakeholders, police, and Ministry of Works that issue driver’s licenses, and also the Sino truck owners who can’t go the extra mile to find out the authenticity of the driver’s license. Most importantly the age bracket consideration is key, be my witness that 90% of these Sino truck drivers are below 25 years of age so the traffic team has not tabled the discussion on their forefront.

Most road accidents by Sino truck drivers start with lazy traffic officers not working well to cub the young age Sino truck drivers that have left other road users to lose their lives

 UNRA, as an authority should work on its conditions in the department of Weigh Bridge, that the overweight truck impounded for their unlawful act at least have time duration when impounded.

The government laborers put a lot into the construction and maintenance of our young roads and it’s my opinion, that UNRA revises all measures taken in the rightful meaning of being a flexible unit that seats down and works changing mechanisms, terms, and conditions.
