Rio Ferdinand’s Sports Academy: Museveni’s 7 Yr Old Hot Air Pledge As Uganda Risks Losing Free Multi-billion Project
A shocking case of treating with contempt our president’s directives, now exposes Uganda to the danger of losing out on the first-of-it’s multi-billion sports facility former Manchester United’s icon, Rio Ferdinand, and his father, Julian Ferdinand Senior, sourced by Proline’s patriotic Mujib Kasule, offered to build for the country.
Failure to implement the long-standing presidential pledge goes miles to show the government officials’ disturbing failure to recognize and appreciate the massive financial as well as PR impact sports development can render to a struggling country like ours.
Had the Ferdinands gone to a normal country like Rwanda and made the pledge he made to Uganda, land would have been provided to them long ago and the sports academy itself would be by now up and running.
Failure to implement his directives, by way of necessary digression, would have seen Gen Paul Kagame we know acting harshly and decisively against those contemptuously responsible to teach them a lesson to remember for the rest of their lives and also to deter others from ever attempting to conduct themselves in the same contemptuous manner towards him and his directives.
Bureaucratic Hurdles
But our being an abnormal country, our military general president’s orders can as well be swept under the carpet and life continues equally abnormally without the leader himself held in contempt doing anything useful, punitive, and decisive to rein into the contempt itself.
Well, the Ferdinands met the Ugandan leader in 2017 with the offer of a sports facility, and Gen Yoweri Museveni excitedly consciously pledged to give them land located somewhere in Entebbe to use to implement the project.
Almost seven years later, the president’s pledge remains redundant all the way to date, and since the government officials in the government’s land registry itself have since rejected Gen Museveni’s directives of processing a Title for the land the Ferdinands are supposed to use to build the sports facility.
As I write, poor Mujib Kasule is struggling through the sluggish Ugandan courts to secure what the president himself directed to be provided to his friends, the Ferdinands as if Kasule himself is Uganda itself which stands to benefit immensely from the sports facility constructed for it, moreover, free of charge and which country itself lacks, before I can forget, what it takes to build a sports facility worthy of the ink of writing home about.
Sports Facility Stalemate
The majority of Ugandan judges with the exception of maybe guys such as Michael Chibita and Musa Sekaana aren’t sports savvy just as Museveni’s group at the land registry themselves are, so asking those sports unsavvy judges to fast track let alone handle a case involving sports like that of Mujib, would be akin to asking Gen Moses Ali to take a mere penalty kick without falling off into a heap in the process.
On a serious note, the president himself, if he doesn’t at all want to be perceived as a leader capable of promising hot air by the rest of the normal world, should endeavor to fast-track the full implementation of the pledge he himself made to the Ferdinands at least in the interest of saving poor motherland from losing out on the rare chance of a free of charge sports facility.
